High Emphasis

Geometry: Geometric Measurement with Dimension

  • G-GMD.3 - Use volume formulas for cylinders, pyramids, cones, and spheres to solve problems.
  • G-GMD.4 - Identify the shapes of two-dimensional cross-sections of three-dimensional objects, and identify three-dimensional objects generated by rotations of two-dimensional objects.

Geometry: Modeling with Geometry

  • G-MG.2 - Apply concepts of density based on area and volume in modeling situations (e.g., persons per square mile, BTUs per cubic foot).

Medium Emphasis

• Geometry: Congruence

• Geometry: Similarity, Right Triangles, and Trigonometry

Low Emphasis

• Geometry: Circles

• Geometry: Expressing Geometric Properties with Equations

Lessons

The Mathematics Assessment Project (MAP) website has the Common Core Standards with useful supports.  In addition to having the standards themselves, the MAP website has an introduction to each section and lessons and tasks that correspond with each standard. Click here to go to the MAP page for all the high school geometry standards.

Keep in mind that it is only the last two topic areas within the high school geometry standards - "Geometric Measurement with Dimension" and "Modeling with Geometry" - that will supposedly be emphasized on the TASC.
